RE: What Vienna will be
I think you will like it. :) In XP, you could have voice recognition if you had Office 2003, as it came with it. The disadvantages were that it could only be used in the Office programs, you had to switch between dictation mode and voice command mode, and it was not always that accurate.

Well, if they take the sandboxed approach, I hope they have some way of allowing multiple programs to run in the same sandbox. I mean, what good is Tablet PC Input Panel if its isolated from the other programs?

Yeah, that would a must to have. But I like that idea because if they can make it work, it would make the computer crash a lot less (in theory anyway).

This shows some of the ideas I've ever praying. Standardisized services introduce a unified way of handling things. At least they give global standards how to use special kind of items. A customizeable Interface using XML (or XAML in this case) is very nice too.
But I have also problems with that inteface:
Interfaces should not vary to much from one application to the other. Instead there should be system-wide XAML Templates which the applications shall use in common. If the user wants to change the appearing of all his/her applications, than he/she should mostly change only one single file. Further finetuning of the styling and icon arrangements can then get archived by application specific styles. Further, I prefeer rectangular windows, because this has been proven to work better; there are only very vew vendors that are using non-rectangular application windows and at least I think that's not because its so hard to code.
Also this interface is still not what I'm intending. Its still not radically enought for me :blarg:
That one is bad. While it looks impressive, it don't gives you additional productivity. Its better when you take a look at BumpTop, aiglx + Beryl, Metisse, and Compiz Fusion. They don't give much additional productivity too, but at least they are looking better.

I think that the idea there is good. So, that would be kind of like the following but with more stuff and not requiring windows: http://www.lcars-terminal.net/
The main problem is that most likely, a lot of software will have to be rewriten for this to work, so it won't be easy to implement.
There has been another application similar to this, which as fun as it was to play around with, didn't really help in productivity: http://www.3dna.net/

RE: What Vienna will be
The sidebar is slightly different, because it doesn't have drop menus...
