so, I have a 5.1 sound system, specifically the logitech X-540 and an external USB sound card that is supposed to allow me proper 5.1 surround. When I try the configuration on windows all speakers correspond when I click them and work just fine but when i play music or any sound, the sound only comes out of the Front right and left speakers unless I enable matrix mode which is not true surround though. any ideas on how to solve this???

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your 5.1 sound system where only the front right and left speakers are producing sound instead of the full 5.1 surround sound setup. This could be due to your system not properly recognizing the 5.1 configuration or the audio settings needing adjustment. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Sound Settings:
    • Right-click on the sound icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings."
    • Under the "Choose your output device" section, ensure that the correct sound card with 5.1 surround support is selected.

If the issue persists, it might be worth checking for any specific settings related to your USB sound card or seeking further assistance from the manufacturer's support.
