I installed 7 last night and managed to download a couple of apps and install them (Skype, AVG) however now trying to download other apps (printer driver, itunes) and the downloads complete, however the installer files vanish, tried downloading to desktop, user data\downloads etc and getting the same issue.

If I try and run the file rather than save it, it completes the download, attempts to run and then the dialogs just dissapear.

This is a clean installation not an upgrade...

Anyone else seen this?

Solution
It seems like you are encountering an issue with downloaded files disappearing or installer dialogs disappearing when trying to run them on Windows 7. This can be frustrating, but there are a few things you can check and try to resolve this issue:

Possible Solutions to Try:

  1. Check Antivirus or Security Software:
    • Your antivirus or security software might be flagging the downloaded files as potentially harmful and automatically removing them. Try temporarily disabling your antivirus before downloading these files to see if that resolves the issue.
    []Check Downloads Folder:
    • Ensure that the downloaded files are not being moved to a different location automatically. Check your browser's download...

    []Check Downloads Folder:

    ]Clear Browser Cache:
    • Clear your browser cache and try downloading the files again. Sometimes, issues with the cache can cause problems with downloads.
    []Try a Different Browser:
    • If you are using a specific browser to download these files, try using a different browser to see if the issue persists. This can help identify if the problem is browser-specific.
    [
    ]Run as Administrator:
    • When running the installer files, try right-clicking on the file and selecting "Run as Administrator." This gives the installer elevated privileges.
    []Check Event Viewer:
    • Check the Windows Event Viewer for any errors or warnings related to the disappearance of dialogs or downloaded files. This might provide more insight into the issue.
    [
    ]System File Checker:
    • Run the System File Checker tool to scan and repair any corrupted system files that might be causing this behavior.
    • Open a Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command: sfc /scannow If none of these solutions work, it might be beneficial to seek further assistance from the Windows community or Microsoft support to troubleshoot this issue. Let me know if you need more detailed steps on any of these solutions.
