Hello
I have HP Compaq 6710b running Windows 7 Professional and Linksys WRT54GL.
I set the wireless network as HomeGroup and I use DHCP to assign IP addresses and everything worked fine.
Until i lost internet connectivity.

- My network and sharing center says i have internet, but i cannot browse pages.
- I can ping sites, ping soldier.com works. So DNS is fine. ICMP connectivity works.
- I disabled windows firewall and antivirus to see if it cuts http, but it still didn't work.
- When i directly connect the notebook through a router - it works.
- Another Vista home notebook on same wireless network - it works.
- Same notebook on different network (on my job) - it works.
- The router log registers http traffic when i try to open a page by browser, but it still doesn't open it
- and I tried opera, firefox IE & skype.

I think it is some issue with the HomeGroup options, somethings blocks my win 7 pc, but I cannot figure what.
Please help me.

Network Configuration: - Check the network configurations on your HP Compaq 6710b and ensure that the IP settings are correctly configured. You mentioned using DHCP, so verify that the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS server settings are correct by checking the network adapter properties. - Make sure there are no conflicting IP addresses in your network. 2. Proxy Settings: - Check if any proxy settings are enabled in your web browsers. Sometimes, incorrect proxy settings can prevent browsing even though pinging works fine. 3. Network Drivers: - Ensure that the network drivers on your HP Compaq 6710b are up to date. You can try updating or reinstalling the network adapter drivers to rule out any driver-related issues. 4. Flush DNS Cache: - Open the Command Prompt as an administrator and type the following command:
Code:
 ipconfig /flushdns
- This will clear the DNS resolver cache, which might help resolve browsing issues. 5. Reset Winsock: - In the Command Prompt as an administrator, type:
Code:
 netsh winsock reset
- Restart your computer after running this command to reset the Winsock catalog, which can fix network-related issues. 6. Network Troubleshooter: - Run the built-in Windows Network Troubleshooter. It can diagnose and automatically fix common network problems. 7. Static DNS: - Try setting a static DNS server address on your HP Compaq 6710b to see if that resolves the browsing issue. Use Google's DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) as an alternative. 8. Wi-Fi Security Settings: - Check if there are any specific security settings on your Linksys WRT54GL router that could be blocking HTTP traffic. Look into the router's firewall settings and make sure it's not blocking HTTP traffic. 9. Wireless Network Encryption: - Verify that the wireless network encryption settings on the router match the settings configured on your HP Compaq 6710b. Ensure they are both using the same security protocols (WPA, WEP, etc.). 10. Router Firmware Update: - Check if there are any firmware updates available for your Linksys WRT54GL router. Updating the router firmware can sometimes resolve connectivity issues. By following these steps, you should be able to narrow down the cause of the connectivity problem and potentially resolve it. If these steps do not work, please provide more details so that further assistance can be offered.
