Hey all, I have come to a huge question, and id like for your opinions upon which is better.

Option A
Nvidia 8800GTS 320MB card + Current Specs

Option B
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane, 2GB DDR2 800 RAM, ECS NFORCE4 Motherboard and EVGA 7600GS

Please note, the 7600 would only be a temporary graphics card till Christmas and id upgrade to a 8800.

It seems like you're contemplating between two options for upgrading your system. Let's break down the components in each option to provide a more informed opinion:

Option A:

  • Nvidia 8800GTS 320MB (Graphics Card)
  • Current Specs (Unknown)

Option B:

  • AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane
  • 2GB DDR2 800 RAM
  • ECS NFORCE4 Motherboard
  • EVGA 7600GS (Temporary Graphics Card)
It appears that you are planning to switch from the EVGA 7600GS to the Nvidia 8800 graphics card after Christmas. Here are some considerations for each option:

It appears that you are planning to switch from the EVGA 7600GS to the Nvidia 8800 graphics card after Christmas. Here are some considerations for each option:

Option A:

  • The Nvidia 8800GTS 320MB was a powerful graphics card in its time, offering good performance for gaming and other graphic-intensive tasks.
  • The overall performance improvement will heavily rely on your system's other specs, such as CPU, RAM, and motherboard. If these are not up to par, the 8800GTS might not reach its full potential.

Option B:

  • The AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane is a dual-core processor that was decent for its time but might struggle with modern applications and games.
  • 2GB of DDR2 800 RAM is quite low by today's standards and might limit multitasking and overall system performance.
  • The ECS NFORCE4 Motherboard also plays a significant role in overall system performance and compatibility with newer hardware.
Given the information provided, if you are considering future upgrades beyond just the graphics card, it might be beneficial to invest in Option A and then upgrade other components gradually. However, if you are looking for a more balanced upgrade, where the CPU and RAM play an essential role, Option A might be a better choice. Feel free to provide additional details about your current specs if you need more tailored advice!
