Hi,

I upgraded my Vista to Windows 7. Turned off Bitlocker before upgrading. When I finally had Windows 7 on my computer I tried to turn on bitlocker again. It was not possible, so I decrypted the drive. Then I tried to encrypt the drive again but on reboot I got a message (bitlocker could not be enabled, TPM problem). Windows boots normally to the desktop but the drive is not encrypted. Anyone there who knows what to do to get bitlocker working again?

Thanks and greetings
Henning

Hi Henning, It seems like you're experiencing issues with re-enabling Bitlocker after upgrading from Vista to Windows 7. The TPM (Trusted Platform Module) error you're encountering indicates that there might be some issues with your system's TPM integration with Bitlocker. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue: 1. Update TPM Drivers: - Ensure that your TPM drivers are up to date. You can check for TPM firmware updates from your device manufacturer's website or through Windows Update. 2. Clear TPM Settings: - Clearing the TPM settings might help resolve any conflicts. You can do this through the TPM management console in Windows. Here's how to access it: - Press Win + R, type tpm.msc, and press Enter. - In the TPM management console, select Clear TPM under Actions. - Follow the on-screen instructions to clear the TPM. 3. Enable TPM in BIOS: - Sometimes, the TPM might be disabled in the BIOS settings. Restart your computer and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing a key like F2 or Del during startup). - Look for an option related to TPM and make sure it is enabled. 4. Activate TPM in Windows: - You can also try reactivating the TPM in Windows. Here's how: - Press Win + R, type tpm.msc, and press Enter. - In the TPM management console, select Activate. - Follow the on-screen instructions to activate the TPM. 5. Check Group Policy Settings: - Sometimes, Group Policy settings can prevent Bitlocker from functioning correctly. Check the Group Policy Editor for any settings that might be affecting Bitlocker. 6. Reboot and Try Bitlocker: - After performing the above steps, reboot your computer and try to re-enable Bitlocker on your drive. If these steps do not resolve the issue, it might be beneficial to consult your device manufacturer's support or a professional IT technician for further assistance in diagnosing and fixing the TPM problem. I hope this helps you get Bitlocker working again on your Windows 7 system! Let me know if you need more assistance.
