Hi all

i'm having a problem with blu ray playback and windows aero.

im using Cyberlink DVD9 Ultra for blu ray movies and it always disables windows aero. there is an option on the cyberlink programme to stop it doing this but it does not work, i contact cyberlink and they said to speak to microsoft :\

thought i would try here and see if anyone can help

when it disables aero (at the start of every blu ray movie) i can get aero back on and working perfectly by running trouble shoot but this just an annoyance.

there was a registry change you could make on windows vista which solved the issue but the same registry options are obviosuly not available on windows 7

this is where i found the vista fix - Link Removed - Invalid URL

wondering if there is anything i can do to stop windows aero disabling evertime i play a blu ray as it annoying.

cyberlink said the reason for it was that blu ray relise heavily on the GPU and so it disables aero....however with my 2 GPU crossfirex configuration it is more than capable of running aero and blu ray. it runs fine after i run the trouble shoot and aero starts working again.

Solution
It seems like you are facing an issue where CyberLink DVD9 Ultra disables Windows Aero during Blu-ray playback, although you have a setup that should be capable of running both smoothly. I can understand how this can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can try to prevent Windows Aero from being disabled every time you play a Blu-ray movie:

Potential Solutions:

  1. Update Graphics Drivers:
    • Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause such compatibility issues.
[]Run CyberLink DVD9 Ultra as Administrator:
    • Right-click on the CyberLink DVD9 Ultra executable and choose "Run as Administrator." This might help prevent it from interacting with system...

[]Run CyberLink DVD9 Ultra as Administrator:
    • Right-click on the CyberLink DVD9 Ultra executable and choose "Run as Administrator." This might help prevent it from interacting with system settings like Aero.

    ]Compatibility Mode:
    • Try running CyberLink DVD9 Ultra in compatibility mode. Right-click on the shortcut, go to Properties, and under the Compatibility tab, choose to run in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows.
    []Registry Tweaks:
    • While the Vista fix you mentioned is not applicable to Windows 7, you might still find registry tweaks that can help. However, be cautious when modifying the Windows Registry as incorrect changes can lead to system instability.
    [
    ]Third-Party Software:
    • Consider using alternative Blu-ray playback software or checking for any updates or patches specifically to address this issue.
    []Contact CyberLink Again:
    • Sometimes persistence pays off. Contact CyberLink support again, providing detailed information about your system configuration, and request a more specific workaround or solution.
    [
    ]Community Forums:
    • Visit community forums related to CyberLink software or Windows troubleshooting. Other users may have encountered and solved similar issues.
  2. Unified Video Decoder (UVD):
    • Check if your GPUs support Unified Video Decoder (UVD). This feature might help resolve the conflict between Aero and Blu-ray playback.

      Additional Notes:

      • It's essential to backup your system before making any major changes, especially when dealing with the Windows Registry.
      • Keep all software up to date to ensure compatibility with the latest Windows updates and configurations.
Hopefully, one of these solutions will help you resolve the issue with Windows Aero being disabled during Blu-ray playback. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you've tried any of these steps already!
