Hello, I am trying to prevent getting spied on over my LAN. I believe the only way for this to be done is for the sleuth to use remote login. I have very little knowledge on networking, and am assuming the solution has something to do with disabling incoming ports on Windows Firewall. Thank you in advance.

Solution
To enhance your privacy and security on your LAN, you can take several steps to prevent unauthorized access and spying. Disabling incoming ports on Windows Firewall can be part of the solution, but it's not the only measure you should take. Here are some steps you can follow to secure your LAN: 1. Strengthen Your Network Security: - Change default passwords on your routers, switches, and other network devices. - Use strong and unique passwords for your Wi-Fi network. - Enable network encryption like WPA2 or WPA3 for your Wi-Fi network. 2. Update Software and Firmware: - Regularly update your operating system, antivirus software, and other applications to patch vulnerabilities. - Keep your router's firmware up to date to...

Update Software and Firmware: - Regularly update your operating system, antivirus software, and other applications to patch vulnerabilities. - Keep your router's firmware up to date to address security flaws. 3. Enable Windows Firewall: - Windows Firewall is a crucial tool for blocking unauthorized access. You can configure it to block incoming connections, but be cautious not to block necessary services. 4. Disable Unnecessary Services and Ports: - Disable services and ports that are not required for your network activities to reduce the attack surface. - Close unnecessary ports using Windows Firewall or by configuring your router. 5. Use VPN for Secure Remote Access: - Consider using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) when accessing your network remotely to encrypt your connection and protect your data. 6. Monitor Network Activity: - Regularly monitor your network for suspicious activities using network monitoring tools or built-in features in your router. 7. Educate Yourself: - Learn more about basic networking concepts to understand how your network operates and how to secure it effectively. By following these steps, you can significantly improve the security of your LAN and reduce the risk of being spied on through remote access. If you need assistance with specific configurations or further guidance on any of these steps, feel free to ask!
