Windows 7 Epson printer driver will not work in Win7 Ultimate

Hi I have a epson Sx515w all in one wirless printer. From the epson sapport I downloaded the required driver after I had disabled my anti virus but when i set the software up the critical part of the set up IE ssid and pass phrase was never called for but the end message told me it was set up but it wasn't I tried over twenty times but no joy Any one help please/<img src="/images/smilies/sad.gif" alt="" title="Sad" smilieid="11" class="inlineimg" border="0">

Does the printer work ok on a wired connection? If so then check to see if an IP address has been assigned to the printer by your router:

Goto programs, accessories, right click on command prompt and run as administrator. Enter the following command:

ipconfig /all

see if your printer is listed and let us see the details associated with it.

Hi Thanks for the reply yes it does I have the printer working in vista and xp in other partitions it works fine but in 7 ultimate it will not work. I have tried every thing but for some reason it won't work my son who works in I T hooked his lap top into my isp and tried the download and it loaded on but kept repeating comands he said this was because it was not compatable with O2 he runs on Mac. and he told me to ask on a windows forum.

yes it does I have the printer working in vista and xp in other partitions it works fine

So I am not sure to what extent setting it up on a Windows 7 machine has anything to do with the actual network properties The wireless printer talks to the wireless router and it is either available or not for other network nodes to use based on that communication only. So if you have it working then you should be able, as PatCooke has already indicated, to determine the IP address of the wireless printer as given it by the wireless router and then just use Simple TCP/IP printing to print to it.
Add a TCP/IP port by configuring a local printer and then install the drivers when prompt and you should be fine.
If you are not sure how to do this please post back and we'll walk you through configuring a TCP/IP printer port

Hi thanks trouble and pat cook If you mean wired is usb conect I have to use the usb cable but if you mean rs cable my printer is in another room. What the problem is the software never asks for the SSID OR PASS PHASE like It does in vista and XP but tells me the printer is working when it isn't. I am not sure how to assign a TCP/IP Address because I have never done it before. Thanks

Hi I took my lap top to the printer and wired my my router to the lap top and tried printing but it gave error no printer so i loaded the downloaded software I got printer installed but when I tried to print I got Error no printer installed. But like I said it never asked for SSID or Pass. I have copied IPconfig from vista Win7 Ultimate just flashes on off

Assuming that your Windows 7 laptop is working on the wireless network or wired for that matter you need to determine the actual IP address that the printer is using on the network.
There is a couple ways of doing this
First you can look into the router DHCP Client table and it should be listed there.
Or you can look at one of the computers that you actually have that the wireless printer is working on,
Open your printers folder and select then right click the printer (either the vista or xp machine) and choose (printer) properties. From the resultant dialog box select the "Ports" tab in the column header titled "Port" use your mouse to resize the column so you can view the entire port name by dragging the seperator bar to the right. Now assuming that it is not some super proprietary port it should include the IP address of the wireless printer, something in the 192.168.0.nnn range. Write that down.
Now on the Windows 7 laptop open devices and printers and select add printer from the menu bar then select "Add a local printer". Then select the radio button that says "Create a new Port:" and use the drop down box to select "Standard TCP/IP Port" and click next. In the "Hostname or IP address:" text box enter (type) the IP address of the wireless printer you've determine from the above steps, uncheck the box that says "Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use" and click next, leave the following at the default "Standard" and click next, then use the subsequent dialog box to install the driver that you said you have already downloaded using the "Have Disk" button and browsing to the driver location where you downloaded it to. Make sure that you have extracted the driver previously if it was a compressed file or self extracting zip or executeable.

Hi thanks I followed you instrcution all fine until have disk I clicked brose button and then desktop but the driver software does not appear only four items. I opened documents folder and moved the file to there but still was not seen Why is this
