Windows 7 Is it Windows 7 worth the money?

Please, tell me your opinion.I have the RC and i'm more than charmed-it has new themes, i get more control of the user account control,Win7 starts up faster than Vista or XP,it has per-icon system tray customization.

And last but not least,all my number 1 programs as mil shield,picasa,avg anti-virus has been installed successfully on Win7 and interact with it pretty well.

Where is your body of work?

If the constitution is so irrelevant as you say, then you no longer have the right to publish your thoughts, and as they are clearly rubbish, I demand that the US Government forcefully remove your writings and imprison you for acts of sedition and treason.

In almost the same breath you say the constitution is irrelivant, yet you yourself own a website where you publish controvercial material on how to "revolutionize" our governement. In places like Cuba, China and North Korea, you're website would get you thrown in prison for the rest of your life at best and at worst you'd probably be executed. Think about that next time you attack the first amendment.

I can think of no better way to spend my time and wealth. To be honest, I'm not going to take the advice of a so called "Journalist" who doesn't even have the stones to publish their real name with what they consider "work." If your publication is so profound, why hide behind an e-mail address? I mean where the hell are they going to send your Pulitzer prize nomination? I read through your Journalistic masterpiece and I would point out the flaws in you're thinking, but I really think your education would be better served by some alone time with you and some high school civics and government texts. I'll give you a push in the right direction so you can reform your thoughts with regard to the first heading of your dossier. Study the three branches of the US government, why they are separate, why they are necessary and how they interact with each other. I think after you have an elementary understanding of how government works, you will understand why there is no 12 step program to government. Truth be told, a lot of what you write is nothing more than bad journalism that you've interpreted and regurgitated. Now, get busy the world needs you to lead the next revolution.

I think Windows 7 blows Vista away in for business with its applocker and the new migration tool to allow businesses to migrate from XP to Windows 7. It doesn't migrate so easily for the home user but it may be best that it doesn't for performance issues.

If you were smart and paying attention you would have pre-ordered it for $49.99 from New Egg like I did and believe me that is very reasonable for an OS. I do think however that other companies should offer the same type of deal and they would realize more profits and less pirating of their software. After all they come out with new versions every year and at those high prices it's hard to stay current. I mean let's be honest here if it comes to upgrading hardware or spending hard earned bucks on software, what do you think the majority of people will opt for? I'm not saying that I haven't tried a friends copy of something or other myself, but with the change in the laws it's just not worth the risk. I run mostly the free versions of software that I can't afford to buy.

You forgot bashing the goverment which is even more off the question asked. I totally understand how pirating comes in as price point is always an issue.

Most people if they are smart aren't going to mess with beta bugs and in July is when the first RTM came out, if my memory suites me properly, so having the time and a machine to play with 7 probably isn't going to happen for most and I personally won't buy something blind as a general rule. I now wish I would have been on the ball and played with 7 back then as I definately would have bought 6 copies of Ultimate. Now it looks more like 3 to start with at around $570 from NewEgg I won't waste my time with the limited Home. MS definately charges too much for their OS and Office but what can you do other then using Linux and Open Office. People wouldn't be as apt to pirate if MS wouldn't gouge and that goes for others like RIAA & the MPAA for music and movies. You'll always have pirates but much just less if you keep the price reasonable.

Maybe you have some ADD... go back and read where the guy RECOMMENDS we pirate software.... then when it was explained to him that software piracy and hacking was re-classified as an act of terrorism after 911... and carries a 15 year prison sentence (without parole) and it may not be a good idea to promote piracy where his recommendations were recorded and archived... he went off into a rant about the constitution.

What do you think? If $49 is good is $0 better?

The economy is in the shitter and it's as if business doesn't have a freaking clue. You know their bottom line has been affected but instead of lowering prices they raise them. It's pretty simple...

Companies got to big and collaborated to gouge their customers. The oil companies did it last year, Banks did it this year and the insurance companies have been doing it for years. Our government officials are bought through campaign contributions, making it impossible for them to protect the citizens they have taken an oath to serve. Theirfore NONE of the laws that regulate monopolistic industries have been inforced or expanded to protect the public. It's basically economic terrorism. Elected officials take an oath to protect and defend the US Constitution against all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC.... but clearly they haven't.

YES... it's worth it.... windows 7 will save you 6 weeks per year you would spend twiddling your thumbs waiting on Vista... if you are on your computer 50 hrs a week. That's a lot of games of spades!

It's the Microsoft "Stimulus plan" probably the only stiumulus plan that works. Support the economy and buy a new computer ! By the way... Dell recently fell to #2 Acer is now the top dog.... probably buying Gateway didn't hurt them either.

Economy be damned. I say get a clue, Learn a bit about Computers, take that $500 that you would have spend on a POS Dell, HP, Acer etc and build a machine that's leaps and bounds better that anything you can get with a brand name badge on it. Then when you are all done, install Linux on it and thumb your nose at the ivory temple of Microsoft. I find comfort in knowing that my money doesn't line the pockets of corporations that don't give a damn about the economy, just their share price.

Personally, there is no business that's "too big to fail." If your business practices cause your company to fail, so be it. The government should have let the banks crumble. I'll grant you that the depression would have been worse, but it would also be over quicker.

PS If you have never built a PC yourself before, Just Google "How to build your own PC." Then open a browser and set your home page to Newegg.com and start building your shopping cart. when you have the right combo of hardware that fits your budget, take the leap and start assembling a rig that will be hands down better than anything you can buy at Best Buy or Walmart!

None of the examples you cite even remotely resemble the scenario we have here. I'm pretty sure if dell had to pay $299 for utimate than the price of their boxes would jump up to $799.
