Hi,

There is a problem with Windows 7 / Outlook 2007:

When Outlook 2007 is configured to connect to remote Exchange Server via RPC/HTTP and NTML Authentication, Outlook asks to enter a password every time it starts. "Remember password" checkbox does not work.

On Windows XP I have managed to make it work by entering passwords of the account in "Manage passwords" in Windows and modifying registry key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa]
"lmcompatibilitylevel"=dword:00000002

However, on Windows 7 these workarounds do not work.

If anyone has found a way around, please let me know.

Thanks a lot,
Darius

Hi Darius, It seems like you are facing an issue with Outlook 2007 on Windows 7 when connecting to a remote Exchange Server using NTLM Authentication where the "Remember password" checkbox doesn't work as expected. The workaround you mentioned with entering passwords in "Manage passwords" on Windows XP and modifying the registry key "lmcompatibilitylevel" worked for you previously but does not seem to resolve the issue on Windows 7. Here are a few additional steps you can try to resolve this issue on Windows 7: 1. Credential Manager: - Go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Credential Manager. - Add a Windows Credential for the Exchange Server with the correct username and password. 2. Authentication Settings: - Verify the...

Authentication Settings: - Verify the authentication settings in Outlook. - Go to Account Settings > More Settings > Security tab. - Check the options under Logon network security. 3. Registry Editing: - Ensure that the registry key you modified is correct for Windows 7. - Check if there are any other registry settings that might affect NTLM authentication. 4. Outlook Profile Reconfiguration: - Try creating a new Outlook profile and setting up the account again to see if the issue persists. 5. Updates and Service Packs: - Make sure that Windows 7 and Outlook 2007 have all the latest updates and service packs installed. If none of these steps work, it might require further troubleshooting or contacting Microsoft support for assistance. Let me know if these suggestions help or if you need further assistance!
