Solution
When using the "Play To" feature on Windows, the compatibility with different media file formats can be limited based on the capabilities of the receiving device (like a smart TV, media player, or streaming device). Here are some tips on working with different file formats: 1. Supported Formats: The "Play To" feature often works best with common, widely supported file formats like MP4, AVI, WMV, and MPEG. If your device doesn't support MKV files, converting them to MP4 is a good choice. 2. File Conversion: Converting your MKV files to MP4 can ensure broader compatibility with different playback devices. DLNA-Certified Devices: Devices that are DLNA-certified (Digital Living Network Alliance) should have wider support for different media formats compared to non-DLNA devices. 4. Third-Party Apps: Using third-party media server software like Plex, Serviio, or Universal Media Server can sometimes provide better format compatibility and transcoding options if needed. 5. Check Device Compatibility: Ensure that the media formats you are trying to stream are supported by the specific devices you're using with the "Play To" feature. By converting MKV files to a more widely supported format like MP4 or using a third-party media server for transcoding, you can enhance compatibility and ensure a smoother streaming experience through the "Play To" option in Windows.
