Hi, I have bought Lenova G460 Laptop with Windows 7 as OS.

When i connect to my office desktop via remote desktop or when i login to other OS via Oracle Virtuabl box. The keystorkes which I type in characters are translated to numeric keys. But if combine (Windows Key) with the characters, the characters are typed correctly

I am not able to get any support from Lenvoa Support team. They say its the problem with OS.

I would appreciate if I can get any help.

Solution
Samson, it sounds like you are experiencing a keyboard input issue when using remote desktop or Oracle VirtualBox. This type of problem can sometimes be related to keyboard settings or drivers. Let's address this step by step: 1. Check Keyboard Settings: - Go to the Control Panel on your Lenovo G460 laptop. - Open "Region and Language" settings. - Click on the "Keyboards and Languages" tab and then click on "Change Keyboards." - Ensure that the correct keyboard layout is selected for your laptop. 2. Update Keyboard Drivers: - Check if there are any updates available for your keyboard drivers. You can do this by going to the Device Manager. - Locate the keyboard driver, right-click on it, and select "Update Driver." 3...

Check Remote Desktop Settings: - If the issue occurs primarily when using remote desktop, check the settings on the remote desktop client. - Make sure the correct keyboard layout is selected in the remote desktop settings. 4. Check VirtualBox Settings: - If the problem persists in Oracle VirtualBox, check the keyboard settings within the virtual machine. - Ensure that the correct keyboard layout is selected in the virtual machine settings. 5. Try the On-Screen Keyboard: - As a temporary workaround, you can try using the on-screen keyboard to see if the issue persists. - To open the on-screen keyboard, go to Start menu > All Programs > Accessories > Ease of Access > On-Screen Keyboard. 6. Reboot the Laptop: - Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve unexpected keyboard behavior. If you have tried these steps and the issue persists, please provide more details about the specific keys that are being translated to numeric keys and any other relevant information. This will help in further diagnosing the issue. Feel free to try these steps and let me know if you need further assistance!
