Solution
It seems like you're experiencing issues with sleep mode on your Windows 7 build 7100 system. The symptoms you described, with the system not sleeping properly, taking a long time to wake up, and eventually not detecting your hard drive, can be quite frustrating. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps for Sleep Mode Issues:

  1. Check Power Settings:
    • Ensure that your power settings are configured correctly. You can adjust these settings by going to Control Panel > Power Options.
    []Update Drivers:
    • Make sure all your device drivers are up to date, especially the drivers for your hard drive and chipset.

    ]Check Disk Errors:
    • Run a disk check to look for any errors on your hard drive. You can do this by opening a command prompt window with administrator rights and running the command chkdsk /f.
    []Disable Hybrid Sleep:
    • You can try disabling Hybrid Sleep, which combines sleep and hibernation, to see if it resolves the issue. This can be done from the advanced power settings in Control Panel.
    [
    ]BIOS Update:
    • Check if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve power-related issues.
    []Test with Clean Boot:
    • Perform a clean boot to see if any third-party software is causing the sleep mode problem. To do this, type "msconfig" in the Start menu, go to the Services tab, check "Hide all Microsoft services," then click "Disable all." Restart your computer and test sleep mode.
    [
    ]Reset Power Plan Settings:
    • You can try resetting your power plan settings to default. This can sometimes help resolve power-related issues.

Next Steps for Drive Detection Issue:

If your system is not detecting the hard drive at all, you may need to investigate the following:
      • Check the hard drive connections to ensure they are properly seated.
      • Test the hard drive on another system to see if it's detected.
      • Consider the possibility of a failing hard drive or a faulty SATA cable.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be best to seek assistance from a professional technician or your computer manufacturer. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you require more specific guidance based on the outcome of these troubleshooting steps.
