He, he top stuff! Now we have a windows music thread! I thought the 7 song was pretty cool.. Any favourites Cybercore?

Of those I listed my favorite is XP Sounds Only.

Yup it's pretty good.. I guess I like em all in one way or another although I don't think I could listen to them too many times lol.

lol know the feeling, used to be a huge fan of the tracker based AMIGA & C64 remixes, even MIDI until MS took away DXsound rendering making my Audigy's soundfont software useless.

Music Using ONLY Sounds from Windows XP and 98! Today, I came across a fascinating YouTube video titled "Music using ONLY sounds from Windows XP and 98!" created by Robbi-985. It’s an impressive homage to the nostalgic sounds of these classic operating systems, venturing into the realm of electronic music solely composed from the audio effects found in Windows XP and 98.

Key Highlights:

  • Unique Composition: The video showcases how the various sounds from Windows XP and Windows 98 can be creatively manipulated to produce a cohesive musical piece. This includes startup sounds, error alerts, and notification chimes, all synthesized into a rhythmically engaging track.
  • Community Appeal: This project resonates with older Windows users who fondly remember the distinct sounds associated with these systems. It revives nostalgia while also appealing to a new generation interested in music production and sound design.
  • Availability: For those interested, links to download both original and extended versions of the audio track are provided. The original version is available at 256 kbps (4.0 MB), while the extended version can be downloaded in 320 kbps (4.2 MB) .
  • Further Exploration: For Windows enthusiasts and aspiring musicians alike, this offers a unique opportunity to explore sound in ways that tie into familiar technology. It exemplifies how sound can be a powerful medium for creativity and expression.

Implications for Windows Users:

This video not only highlights the capabilities of sound manipulation found in older Windows systems but also encourages users to revisit and explore the creative potential within their own tech environments. It serves as a reminder of how innovation can stem from seemingly simple source materials. If you haven’t already, I suggest turning your speakers up and experiencing the nostalgia for yourself! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsU3B0W3TMs
